Mackenzie Panessa is a New York-based illustrator, artist, and designer with a passion for vintage design, music, and fantasy storytelling. She holds BFA in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology and has brought her creative vision to children’s books, murals, album covers, graphic tees, and a variety of freelance design projects.

In April 2025, Mackenzie celebrated the release of her debut children’s book, Arlo - The Gluten-Free Duck, which she co-authored and illustrated. "Arlo" was also a semi-finalist in the North Street Winning Writer's competition in 2026. She currently works as an Illustrator for Nassau BOCES, where she helps design and print a wide range of materials for school districts across Nassau County. Her illustrations have been acknowledged by the Art Guild of Port Washington and her illustration titled "Why Do Cats Purr?" been featured in the W27 Newspaper. She is also an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI).

Her work is deeply inspired by nature, antique photography, vintage artwork, and classic fairy tales. Known for its intricate linework, rich textures, and earthy color palettes, her style brings a whimsical, timeless quality to every piece. She is a firm believer that people need a little more magic and childlike wonder in their day-to-day lives.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Mackenzie is passionate about all forms of making, whether it’s sewing, knitting, embroidering, painting, or printmaking. Mackenzie has a strong work ethic, is highly motivated, and works well both as a leader and independently. She is highly adaptable, has great problem-solving skills, and is a quick and eager learner. With a strong desire to learn, adaptability, and a love for storytelling, she brings both heart and skill to every project.
