This was a dummy book design for a young reader’s adaptation of The Ugly Duckling. For this project, I rewrote the story of "The Ugly Duckling" for children ages 5-8. I then created 3 sample sketches for the illustrations and designed a front and back cover using Illustrator and InDesign.
The book cover would feature a faux leather cover with gold embossing and decorative "corner protectors" to enhance this classic style. The artwork itself and border would be glossy.
The book is meant to be for a younger audience, but still mature and classic, similar to Beatrix Potter stories. The illustrations would be finished in a classic watercolor style and spreads would be laid out with text on one page and illustrations on the other with a few spot illustrations sprinkled in.
